Course Description

This course introduces participants to the innovative and environmentally friendly end-of-life disposition method known as water cremation. Often referred to by its scientific name, alkaline hydrolysis, water cremation offers a natural, gentle alternative to traditional cremation and burial. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the process, its history, and its current availability in the U.S. The course will also equip nurses with the knowledge to discuss this option with patients and their families, fostering meaningful conversations about end-of-life care choices.

Gentle Water Cremation

Gentle Water Cremation is an independently owned funeral home specializing in Water Cremation, a water-based process that reduces the body to its basic elements without exposure to flames. Using water, lower temperatures, and less energy, our clean and gentle practice results in a more pure and complete set of cremated remains that can be returned in an urn.

Our staff assisted in developing the technology behind Water Cremation at UCLA and at the Mayo Clinic, and we continue to support the growth and adoption of the practice across the country and around the world. We hold the view that, while no single method of disposition will be suitable for everyone, it is important to spread awareness of the newly expanded set of options.

We serve the entire state of Florida from our headquarters in West Palm Beach; we also partner with other funeral homes so that they can offer Water Cremation to the families they serve.
